Lynda Stacey

Lynda StaceyLynda, is a wife, step-mother and grandmother, she grew up in the mining village of Bentley, Doncaster, in South Yorkshire.

She is currently the Sales Director of a stationery, office supplies and office furniture company in Doncaster, where she has worked for the past 25 years. Prior to this she’d also been a nurse, a model, an emergency first response instructor and a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor … and yes, she was crazy enough to dive in the sea with sharks, without a cage.
Following a car accident in 2008, Lynda was left with limited mobility in her right arm. Unable to dive or teach anymore, she turned to her love of writing, a hobby she’d followed avidly since being a teenager.

Her own life story, along with varied career choices helps Lynda to create stories of romantic suspense, with challenging and unpredictable plots, along with (as in all romances) very happy endings.

Lynda writes for both Choc Lit and Ruby Fiction, her Choc Lit debut House of Secrets won the Choc Lit’s  Search for a Star competition.

She lives in a small rural hamlet near Doncaster, with her ‘hero at home husband’, Haydn, whom she’s been happily married to for over 20 years.

A compelling read, a real page turner.

When Cassie receives an urgent phone call from her sister informing her that her beloved aunt is ill in hospital, she leaves her archaeological dig in sunny Italy and rushes home to rainy Doncaster. Once home she finds her aunt clinging onto life just long enough to tell Cassie a 50-year-old secret and making her promise to achieve what Aggie could never manage.

The secret is contained in the catacombs that run under her aunt’s home. Cassie uses her expertise as an archaeologist to join the excavation of the catacombs, but her promise means she has to crawl along long dangerous tunnels and enter the crumbling catacombs where there is another danger waiting for her.

Steeped in atmosphere, two unconnected mysteries and a romance make this an absorbing read.

I would certainly describe this book as a suspenseful good read. Cassie had a rough childhood in Doncaster, she and her sister were brought up by their aunt Aggie. She is now an archeologist, working in Italy, but gets called back to Yorkshire because her aunt is terminally ill and reveals a secret to Cassie. We are introduced to Noah, who Cassie knew at University, and who is now working on the sandstone tunnels, a male nurse who is not all he seems, and other characters. There is plenty of suspense, a basically true story about the sand tunnels, with a little invention about current excavations (artistic licence), a nice helping of romance, a really moving part (yes, I shed a tear or two), and a satisfactory ending. All things taken in account, I could recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the genre, it’s well worth reading.

This book opens in sunny Italy and moves to a cold Yorkshire. Cassie’s work on a dig in Herculaneum is her dream, she is rudely awakened to reality by a phone call from home which shatters her dream. Her return to find her aunt seriously ill and wanting Cassie to fulfil her dying wish leads Cassie into a new life. The re-entry of Noah into this life opens more doors than one. This is a good read with an excellent story and a good romance. The story kept me turning the pages and entertained as I am sure it will you.

A very enjoyable read, well set up, with good sense of conflict for the main character between her profession and her family. The characters were well rounded and believable, and I liked that it didn’t have the usual tone of a thriller, something a bit different both in feel and context.

Oh boy …. tissues at the ready!

What a storyline. I absolutely loved reading about the archaeological dig in Greece and when Cassie’s sister told her about Aggie being in hospital – it brought a lump to my throat.

I was drawn in right from the start. There were twists I didn’t expect, a few things I had a feeling about in advance and turned out some were right and others a complete curveball!

But the story continued to unfold and drew me in. I didn’t want it to end and I lost myself yet again to another book 😂 That is my sign of a awesome book.

I could picture myself in the story (although I’ll admit … not where they go down the tunnels).

I purposefully haven’t said much as it is such a great story and would be great if you have a read and find out for yourself.

Another book I couldn’t put down. Thank you Lynda.
