SEARCH FOR A STAR NOVEL WRITING COMPETITION – CHOC LIT PUBLISHING & SOUNDINGS, SPONSORED BY YOUR CAT MAGAZINE

THREE BOOK DEAL UP FOR GRABS

We are delighted to announce a new Search for a Star competition in conjunction with Soundings and sponsored by Your Cat Magazine.

We’re looking for fresh new talent, debut authors!  We want stories that inspire emotions: heart stopping romances, edge of your seat thrillers, romcoms, Christmas stories, etc. However there’s one requirement,  your story must include a cat in some way.

What You Will Win!
At least one lucky winner, will win a three book deal (in eBook, paperback, audio and audio CD) with Choc Lit Publishing and Soundings. Plus Your Cat Magazine,  Britain’s bestselling cat magazine, will feature the wining entry and runners-up in the magazine.

Entry Details
Search for a Star
is about finding fresh new talent and entries will be accepted from writers not previously published or accepted by an agent or publisher. This must be new content and not published. Your manuscript must be assessed by a professional  assessment or editing service before submitting to us.

Competition submissions should be full length novels (60,000 – 100,000 words).

The top three entries will be chosen by the Tasting Panel, a panel of independent readers who help select Choc Lit’s multi award winning titles, with the editorial teams of Choc Lit Publishing and Soundings choosing the winner with input from Your Cat Magazine. Initial publication for the winning entrant is planned for autumn 2019 and will be released from either Choc Lit or Ruby Fiction (imprints of Choc Lit Publishing) and Soundings which is part of the Ulverscroft Group.

Competition entries must be made by 28 February 2019 and submitted via the website here …  The short list will be announced in April via our newsletter, Spread, and on social media. The winner will be announced soon after.

Please remember, you must have your manuscript assessed before submitting to us so that you have a chance to correct any obvious problems with your story or style. There are many organisations offering manuscript assessment services. Your competition entry will be reviewed by our Tasting Panel, independent readers who can be quite picky about badly presented manuscripts, so don’t give them an excuse to fail yours.   You must also meet our criteria as shown on the next page.
Full Terms & Conditions can be found here …
