Jackie Ladbury in the news with her paperback release of The Potter’s Daughter:
It was a conversation about catching newts in a marlhole which set former air stewardess Jackie Ladbury off on a journey into her Potteries past and the world of historical romantic fiction.
Stoke-born Jackie began writing fiction while she was waiting for passengers to return to board a plane home from Cologne to England.
She has now found publishing success after rediscovering The Potter’s Daughter, a story she wrote five years ago, which she found she couldn’t put down when she re-read it. It was inspired by a conversation about her early childhood in Stoke and visiting a marlhole, a rain-filled crater left in the ground after clay has been excavated.
